Our first Innovation Challenge is now open for submissions.

MaaS Innovation Challenge

Challenge Statement: How would you give customers optimal door-to-door mobility service options and seamless combinations for their situation, including the first and last mile?

"Transport is a technology business." - Andrew Constance, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure

What is the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) Challenge?

Mobility as a Service, MaaS, is a dynamic, growing market with small and large players working together to give customers improved travel options that suit the individual needs and circumstances, not just on main transport routes.

The vision for Transport for NSW is to enable a vibrant, open mobility marketplace where providers compete to best meet community & customer needs with compelling alternatives to car ownership.

Why is MaaS needed?

  • Increasing population
  • Constrained capacity
  • Ability to meet future demand
  • Last mile connectivity
  • Full range of transit options
  • True multimodal including active transit includes active transport options such as walking or cycling
