TheWagga Wagga Transport Plan is the first place-based transport plan developed by Transport for NSW for a regional city in NSW.
The Plan articulates how Transport for NSW and Wagga Wagga City Council will respond to changes in land use, population, and travel demand. It provides a blueprint for transforming the way people and goods will travel within, to and through Wagga Wagga over the next 20 years.
Through this plan, Transport for NSW will ensure Wagga Wagga’s future transport network is safe, sustainable and productive.
It sets a path to diversify transport options in the city, and surrounding villages while ensuring that we preserve and enhance the character of local areas.
The car is currently the dominant method of travel in Wagga Wagga. As the city grows, residents will need improved access to public transport, walking and cycling routes and point-to-point travel.
The suburbs of Wagga Wagga will be places where people regularly choose to walk and cycle to shops, services, schools or work.
Rural villages and towns surrounding Wagga Wagga will require a more diverse range of transport options to make them attractive and liveable for residents.
The Draft Wagga Wagga Transport Plan outlines how Wagga Wagga’s transport network and services will develop over the next 20 years.
